Pam Neff has been involved in various aspects of the horse industry for the last 37 years. She began by retraining a racehorse when she was 15 years old to become a top competitor in the medal classes for hunt seat equitation. After evolving from the junior division she trained, bought, sold and cared for hunters and jumpers in the South Florida area for the next 10 years.
Pam graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology. She planned to go to vet school but opted to work for awhile and landed a job with American Bacteriological Corporation. She then married her soul mate, Jim, and they opened a boarding and training business in Hawthorne, Fla. Pam stood at stud a beautiful TB/App cross stallion that she competed in eventing up through the preliminary level.
Pam began to miss academics and so she went back to school to earn another bachelor’s degree and become a nurse. She worked in the Cardiac Critical Care Unit at Shands Hospital caring for open heart surgery patients. At the same time she and her husband purchased a beautiful piece of property in Gainesville, Fla. and started a warmblood breeding business. She ran that business for 10 years, successfully.
In the past few years, after purchasing a horse that became a headshaker, Pam decided to dedicate herself to finding a cure for headshaking syndrome. She feels that no horse or human should have to go thru that much suffering and, if enough inspired people work together, a cure can be found.
